Biography

Mikey Richardson is a Canadian painter, illustrator and designer based in Carlisle, Ontario.

Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Richardson moved to Toronto in 1992 to study at the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University), graduating in 1996. Shortly before graduating, he co-founded the Toronto design studio AmoebaCorp and later co-founded Jacknife, an independent brand and design agency, in 2013. His work in design and illustration has run alongside his painting practice for more than three decades.

Richardson has taught illustration, design and art direction at OCAD University and in 2005 co-founded and co-curated ArtLab, an independent Toronto gallery presenting work by emerging artists.

After an extended hiatus from public exhibition, Richardson returned to exhibiting his paintings in 2024. Recent group exhibitions include Everything But the Kitchen Sink at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles; the Art Gallery of Hamilton Art Sale; Open Doors at 401 Richmond, Toronto; and Art Circuit, Hamilton.
